Unfortunately, Barnes & Noble University no longer exists. I took a few courses with it, and they were good.

  • You mentioned certifications – Learnthat.com (www.learnthat.com/certification/) includes several classes to help student prepare for computer-related certifications.
  • "Technophilia: Get a Free College Education Online" (lifehacker.com/software/education/technophilia-get-a-free-college-education-online-201979.php) is a helpful article listing individual free classes offered by universities. Some of the options include free studies in genealogy at Brigham Young University (ce.byu.edu/is/site/courses/freecourses.cfm), humanities courses at the University of Washington (www.outreach.washington.edu/openuw/), and science classes at Carnegie Mellon University (www.cmu.edu/oli/).
  • Microsoft Office users can access self-paced training courses (office.microsoft.com/en-us/training/FX100565001033.aspx) to learn how to better use these software products.
  • Word2Word (www.word2word.com/coursead.html) lists online language courses, including commonly-taught languages like Spanish and English, and others you won't always find in a traditional classroom, like Burmese and Uzbek.
  • Members of the Association of Computing Machinery (pd.acm.org/) can take advantage of over 2,000 free classes.
