Watch TV Series Online Free
From LoveToKnow Online
Would you like to watch TV series online free? It might sound too good to be true, but there actually are websites that allow you to watch television, including current series, online at no charge, sometimes without even having to sign up on the site.
How Watching TV Online Works
Many different websites have online videos, and sites that let you watch TV series online free usually collect videos from all over the web and sort them by program, so you can find and watch your favorite shows.
Like watching any other kind of video online, there can be lags, and download times are often slow. Not all episodes of all shows are available, of course, and full episodes of some shows are completely unavailable. It's really just a matter of what's been put online, either by the networks or producers of the shows, or by people who have captured the shows through Tivo or some other service.
Other websites actually allow you to tune into television channels rather than specific programs, giving you access to channels you might not be able to find on your local cable or satellite programming.
Places to Watch TV Series Online Free
There are actually many different websites that allow you to watch television series and other programs without paying for them. Here are a few of the most popular ones and the ones with the biggest variety of programs:
- Free TV Online has links to television shows, documentaries, movies, cartoons and anime, as well as live TV. None of the videos are hosted on their site, so links will take you to other sites to view the videos.
- Project Free TV provides links to free television shows and movies uploaded to other sites and hosts no content of its own.
- SideReel is still in beta as of this writing, and has information about more shows than it actually has videos for, but should become another good choice for free television shows in the future.
- TV-Video doesn't have a huge number of television shows to choose from, but it does have a lot of the current popular programs such as "Lost," "Ugly Betty" and "The Office." It features a good collection of science-fiction shows as well.
- Tioti requires only a free registration for discovering, downloading, streaming and sharing television shows.
- Streamick has a wide variety of channels from around the world that can be watched live on your computer, from local and public access stations to 29 music channels, viral videos and more.
- FreeTube is a cool site for watching television channels you might not be able to see otherwise, such as BYU TV and Al Jazeera (in Arabic and English).
- My Easy TV is another website with links to clips from particular channels, but it doesn't have a wide variety, and includes many links to adult sites.
- Choose and Watch is another site devoted to channels rather than individual shows.
Is This Legal?
Some sites do link to programs that have been uploaded by the networks, and these are clearly legal, while those that individuals download might not be. Most of the sites allowing people to watch TV series online free do not actually host any videos themselves, which means they can't really get in trouble for providing a link to those sites.
People who upload videos to sites like Google Videos, YouTube, MegaVideo and the other popular video sites must affirm that they aren't uploading videos in violation of copyright, but that's clearly not true when you can find links to movies that are still playing in theaters and television episodes that haven't been released on DVD.
While it's unlikely that you're going to get in trouble for watching illegal videos on your website, that becomes less certain if you're downloading the videos, especially if you are then sharing them. Overall, you must decide if you're morally OK with watching television programs without commercials and in a format not approved by the original network.
Regardless of the dubious legality of many online TV options, just like with music and game downloads, it seems unlikely that free online television programs are going to go away.
