Virtual Pets That Grow

From LoveToKnow Online

There are plenty of virtual pets on and off the Internet to play and interact with, but finding virtual pets that grow and live are harder to come by. Unlike other simple animated cyber pets, these actually need to be taken care of.

Real Life Virtual Pets

You may want a virtual pet because you just can’t commit the time you would like to an actual dog, cat or llama. And so steps in a nearly real pet that you can feed, play and interact with. However, this pet will never destroy your couch or eat your slippers. Virtual pets are also a great diversion for children that may be allergic to a certain kind of pet that they love but could never have. It can also serve as a precursor for a real pet in the future.

The idea to have virtual pets that grow is a little farfetched to some and may sound like science fiction. NeoPets as well as GigaPets were both versions of this kind of virtual pet, but they had their flaws. They existed as little keychain animals that couldn't be turned off and would beep often for food or to be played with, and many found that to be worse than a real animal. The technology has come a long way since those simplified virtual pets on keychains.

Virtual Pets that Grow and Live

We all want a virtual pet that grows and lives that is as much like a real animal as possible. These pets need to be played with, fed, cleaned up after and tended to. How you take care of them usually determines how long they may live or what their temperament is, depending on the site. These pets live inside the virtual world where they can interact with other virtual pets and where you as their owner can interact with other pet owners. What follows are two sites that offer the best virtual pet experience you could hope to find.

FooPets: FooPets like to say that their pets are, in fact, real because they need to eat and need love. They can live from 10 to 20 years, depending onhow you treat them. Your pet will age and act differently as it gets older giving you a truly realistic experience. This site is for serious people that really want a virtual animal. Your pet, like a real dog or cat, has to be fed and watered every day and it can come down with medical issues that need to be taken care of. You can’t uninstall or “quit” your pet and if you neglect it it will be taken to a shelter. Unfortunately, this site is not completely without cost. You can sign up for free and get treated to five FooDollars that you have to spend on food. You can purchase extra FooDollars at $1 per ten FooDollars. You can also earn FooDollars by referring friends and more.

Rescreatu: This virtual pet site is a lot different than FooPets. It begins by being completely free and doesn’t even require e-mail activation, so you can get started right away. You search the hatchery for a pet, raise it from an egg and watch it grow. You then continue to raise and train your Creatu to be the best Creatu it can be. This is actually a mythical or fantasy pet, with over 35 different options. You get to explore several fantasy worlds and interact with others on the site.

Other Virtual Pets

FooPets and Rescreatu represent the best that the Internet has to offer in terms of adopting a virtual pet and watching it grow, play and live. Outside of the Internet, there are other virtual pets that you can purchase, including various forms of NeoPets and several Nintendo DS games. The problem with these games and toys is that they do not provide the same immersive experience as the sites do. The one perk is that they can be taken with you, so when you get bored you can always pull them out to pass the time.
