Build Your Resume

This might take a while, so start early. You want to take the time to edit and complete your resume, so it is perfect. Have others view and edit your resume. While another set of eyes is always useful for finding typos and confusing descriptions, it can be especially helpful to have your professors and people in your field of interest read it.

Starting The Online Job Search

Create job search accounts on all of the major online sites. Careerbuilder, Yahoo Hotjobs, and Monster are all good places to start your search. Upload the resume you've carefully created, but don't stop there. Make sure to actively search the sites for potential jobs and submit an application promptly. While applying for a job online can be as simple as clicking an "email resume" button, take the extra time to create a custom cover letter for each position to stand out from the crowd.

Career Fairs

Attend career fairs at your school and in your community. Check with your school's career placement office for information on upcoming fairs. Make sure to take lots of copies of your resume and dress professionally. Treat each event like an extended job interview for maximum success.
