• When you finally meet in person, you will have a good idea of what the person looks like. Since you have already been communicating via email, private message and perhaps even the telephone, you already know whether or not the other person can hold up his or her end of the conversation.
• Online dating is safe. You don’t have to give out your name, address or phone number to someone you don’t know until you’re absolutely comfortable. When it’s time to meet, you can meet in a public place for the first few times, until you’re sure this person isn’t a psycho.
• Dating websites offer a large selection of people in your area. There's the potential to meet a lot more people than if you had a chance encounter in the supermarket or laundrymat.
